Dr. Carol Swain joined The Cow Guy Close to discuss the realities facing New York’s new mayor-elect — and what happens when ideology collides with economics.
As the wealthy taxpayers who fund most of the city’s budget prepare to leave, Carol asks the hard question: What can a socialist mayor really do for the poor once the money is gone?
“You need a wealthy society to run a social state successfully,” Dr. Swain reminds us. Without that foundation, the poor will be the ones most disappointed — not the rich who leave.
Host Scott “The Cow Guy” Shellady adds, “If you treat those taxpayers poorly, they’ll take their money — and their jobs — somewhere else.”
In the second half of the show, Dr. Swain shares her experience at the Cambridge Union Debating Society in England, where she delivered a closing argument so powerful it won over the crowd — evidence of a growing conservative movement even in Europe.
This episode dives into economics, ideology, and what happens when leadership loses touch with fiscal reality.
